Steve, how bout installing the vBulletin Merge feature?

It lets you or the mods merge all the reposts into 1 big topic. LS1.com has been using it since I joined many years ago, and it works pretty slick?

    :D

We indeed are able to merge threads, but I don't know how it organizes things withing the new "mega" thread. As a result, I've never tried it.

School me on it and I'll see if I can make it work.:thumb:

Will it work in the test area ? Maybe try merging those first to see if it works well :dunno:

I can only use my "special powers":surepal: in the Lounge or the Towing forum.

Sorry - I forgot about this post

As I remember (from another forum I used to administrate) it works like this:
The "mega" thread would be one you picked perhaps the first one posted, or the one with the best headline/title depending on circumstances. Then when you merge, all subsequent threads are placed "into" that master thread as replies. All replies to all threads are now replies in the 1 mega thread, sorted by date posted.

I hope that reads as clear as it is in my head. If not PM me :)

That makes sense to me. One question though- how do the "posted in reply to" tags work in a scenario like that? It would seem to me that it would be AWFULLY confusing to read 3 threads mixed into one, even if they were all about the same topic......:dunno:

Don't forget about this thread THIS time, mister!!! :deal: :rotfl:

I don't know the answer to that question. It's been so long since I've done it and it was with an older version. I tried to find one on another forum and couldn't find one that was obviously merged

Perhaps we could coordinate a couple test posts & replies in the lounge and see what happens?

Yeah, a test run would be cool. Maybe I'll organize something sometime this afternoon.
