Get out your calculator: The maximum allowable mechanical lift (as well as what's acceptable in terms of bigger rubber) can be determined by this formula:

Maximum Lift = Wheelbase x Wheel Track
     2200

For example, if you did that formula and came up with 2 inches, then a 2-inch lift and a 2-inch increase in tire size is allowable, equaling a total lift of 4 inches over stock.

most inspection places measure to the bottom of your door. 27" is the max height for a blazer / half ton.

I have always gone to this Sunoco Station in Medway. About 5 mins from my house and the foriegn guys that work there usually scrutinize about the lift and such but they alway pass it. Luckly I am emissions exempt :D . I have passed inspection there 3 times before and I have to go back this month to get a new sticker.

    I have a 4" suspention lift and a 2" body lift on 35" tires.

So according to the lift law I am illegal by 2" but the guys that do the state inspections are none the wiser.
