19 years I've been used to electric, move here and I have gas. I'm no good at cooking on it  Just ruined 2 big beautiful pancakes. Looks like eggs again for breakfast.

ok so I didn't cook when I was 1 but you get the idea :)

Electric here, we love it. I got a flat-top stove 12/03, and it's been realllly cool. I've never liked gas, just seems to hard to work with to me (I guess mostly cause I find electric work pretty easy).

Gas stoves work really well for cutting onions ;)

Just cut the onions near the stove, turn on the burner and the heat pulls in the fumes and burns them so it doesn't irritate your eyes :cool1:

I watch too many cooking shows

    I cook on a 36" x 60" griddle and a gaint gas stove

What's great is tunring a pot upside down on the burner, blowing out the pilot, cranking it to max flow, and sparking it. Flying sauce pot.

I have no hair on my hands.

i grew up with electric. i LOVE gas when i turn it down it goes down. with electric i turned it down and 5 minutes later it was still too hot. you get used to both. i blew up the glass top on our electric once, i went to heat up coffee(a perk pot). when i picked it up it was heavy so i thought there was coffee in it but there was just grounds.after a few minutes i noticed that it didn't sound like it was getting hot so i got up and looked to find a puddle of aluminum:yikes: . i used two butter knives and threw it in the sink. a few days later pops went to cook and when he heated up the stove the glass top exploded!!!!! YIPE.

Hey I love this board - now you're all talking about stoves!!!:D

We have electric, but use gas at the trailer. The gas is way easier to control and if we ever get the opportunity to have a gas one at home I will jump on it! (Well not literally :eek1: )

Plus, being married to a gas company employee that brings home the bacon helps...

I'll tell ya one thing , I sell more electric parts than gas . Most often just an ignitor goes out once every few years .

If I had the money to pay for installation from the pipes in the alley to my house , I would go gas in a heartbeat :D

i grew up with gas too, i prefer it for cooking. electric does have than easy to clean bling factor tho. never heard of that cutting onions thing, neat trick.ill have to ask my mom if she's heard of it. she watches cooking shows all day long practically.

i do hate propane stoves. makes the pots black and everything is a mess to clean up. if i ever get a camper i want a diesel setup , burners and furnace. now thats bling.
