All i have ever had with gm power windows are problems. My parents Safari the wires that go into the switch broke behind the clips that go onto the studs of the switch. This also happened on my blazer too. Now all of a sudden my driver side window doesn't work, so i mess with the switch and thats not it. Go to the motor next to make sure that plug didn't come out and what do i find?? The wires came out of the plug. So now i have to solder or find some way to put these back in that plug. Oh and does anyone know which wire goes on the left or right. Mine has a blue and a blue with a black stripe. Don't think it really matters, could just make the switch opposite if i got them backwards. Thanks - Doug

Power windows? I'm glad I don't have'em. My arm will take another 50 years before it'll wear out, so I guess I'll have "power" windows for a while! LOL!

The wire with the black stripe prolly is the negative.

Napa sells replacement contacts. Depending upon your napa dealer he may have a hard time finding the correct contact. I think it is called a GM pakcon HD. A lot of GM cars can donate the plastic plug if it is toast. If you wire the motor backwards then it will go up instead of down..... Look at the other side if this concerns you. Good luck.

I feel your pain man. My 85 K30 has the "slow-window-syndrome". Seems like the passenger side goes down faster than the driver side. Kind of sucks though.

That was the first mod I did: rip out power crap and install manual stuff. MUCH BETTER! I'll take hand-powered anyday!

I believe the blue with the black line is the positive if that helps.

My back window has practicaly died. Any ideas, do these motors go bad or is it just wiring?

I had one of those plug-in terminals go bad, and a bud just took the switch apart, and used a flat spade wire connector. He bent in the right curve shape and it has worked fine. Now if I can just find out how to speed up my windows. Also suffering from the slow window syndrome

  13. thoroughly clean the track the window goes up and down in.... then spray it liberally with silicone lube.. they will regain some of that oomph they lost over the years...

PS with that center console, i consider power windows a blessing- the lean-over to get to the passenger side sux.....

PSS the back window motor and cable are the same as all the fullsize sation wagons of that vintage....

i have been fighting a constant battle with my power windows, and today i lost. cut the hell out of my thumb and had to walk away from the jimmy so i wouldn't start breaking things. constant slow or no go on both sides, then when they finally would creep all the way down when the blue moon is out it takes forever for them to get back up if at all! so next week when the rig is going to the shop for some carb surgery i'm having them fix both sides no matter what it takes, i'm at my wits end and will pay for them to be fixed now........the next rig will NOT have power windows! I feel your pain man!
    peace.
