    Its falling...

Scrap prices just dropped 5 bucks today, down to 80 a ton for junk cars..light iron like appliances and other "tin" isn't paying anywhere near that much though..I junked a K-10 frame,a front axle minus the knuckles out,and 2 catalitic converters a few weeks ago,and only got 31 bucks!..:doah: ..that was roughly 500 lbs..probably COST me that much to cut up the frame!..:(

I got 225 bucks for my 74 K20 I junked in july, without a motor, flatbed, transfer case, seats, and I stuffed it with all the other metal in the yard by putting a rotted fleetside bed on it for a "scrap bin"..scrap was 75 a ton then, and it weighed 6200 lbs--only 20 lbs less than it weighed empty when I drove it there !.:eek1: .

Wish I had 10 of them or something as heavy to scrap right now..all the heavy stuff is gone from my yard now..only some "tin",and lawnmowers and a few snowblowers reamain now..

I heard prices are going to drop even more real soon..so if anyone wants to cash stuff in,now is the time to do it I guess..

They give me a "mix" price that is between the price of tin and the good stuff because usually I have about 5 to 10 refrigerators and a mixture of car parts.

Last time I brought in a big load I got busted cause the DOT didn't like my Suburban towing my trailer... so I got a $101 ticket for an $82 load of scrap metal.

Since then it's been small loads once in a while for me... but I need to start hauling in big loads again with prices up a bit. And I'll make sure to be looking DOT approved.

Divorced, that truck body was the same one we saw you roll over using a chain to remove the rear axle several weeks ago wasn't it?

Yep, same one. I finally got it loaded up and hauled away. I don't have much more to haul away, but new deals on free trucks for parts always seem to find me...
