Hey Guys and Gals,,, I made it to Haines, AK.... The trailer I had would not take the weight of all my stuff and be safe to drag up here. I ended up getting a 26' U-Haul and pulling the blazer behind it. Man, what a drive!
My only regret was not being able to be behind the wheel of my K5... Pics on a web page to follow in a few days.

Hey Mudfrog, I'll have my pc set up here soon and will be able to icq with you again.

Parts of the drive where pretty hairy,,, smoked the breaks a couple times,,, just about plowed a moose in the road that a semi nailed just a minute ahead of me. It was dark and rainy and I came around this corner and there it was, flopping around. It was close,, but I missed it. I just about ran off the road a few times from trying to look at all the beautiful sights. Last time I was over that road, I was 10 years old, so I didn't remember any of it.
Yes, it's true that we get a lot of daylight in the summer and not very much in the winter. Not sure about 20 hours of daylight.
That all depends on how far north you are. I'm down in the S.E. of AK.

Nope, it's not all fozen, yet[IMG].
Anyone want to come up and help get my store in order?

Brother, glad you made is safely. Yeah, that sucks you couldn't drive your K5 up there. You built that thing just to survive the drive too. Oh well, atleast you got there safely despite almost wrecking a few times. Good luck up there.

What kind of store do you have? An off-road store?? If so, give us a number or an address or website, i would rather buy stuff from a fellow K5er than some of these other "too big ofr their britches" stores!

It's called JTR's Electronic Sales and Service. We have, or will have, GPS's, CB's, Computers, Binoculars, Rifle Scopes, TV's,,,whatever,, some sporting goods, and some electronics.,,,, OR whatever all you K5'ers need that I can get for you.[IMG] I'll post it officially through Steve when I'm up and running. The store is open,, but in the very early stages. Quite the mess.,, hehehe

Ya, Boss,,,, You know what,, I did kinda screw up a bit. I built the blazer as the ultamate Alaska Truck,,, not the ultimate Get Me to Alaska Truck.... That's ok,, we're here and that's all that matters right now. I haven't even got to drive it yet. I still have the rear driveshaft out from the trip. Just got the U-Haul unloaded yesterday, cleaned up and turned in today. Setting up some PC's in the store.. etc... BUT I will have it going this evening. Then off for a drive.
Thanks for all the Consern Guys/Gals.... it really means a lot to me to feel cared for by people I've never met.
    You guys/gals are great!

Glad to hear you made it up here. It will be nice having someone else from the last frontier on the boards. The fishin is just getting good. Don't work too hard.

About the hours of daylight. It really depends on where you live. Most people dont realize how big this state is.(makes Texas look small) From where I live I can travel 800 miles west, east, or north and still be in Alaska. Southeast isn't much different then Washington.

And no it is not all frozen up here. Its been mid 70's here the last week. Not exactly hot but far from frozen. Some places in Alaska get near 100 degrees in the summer.

Check out my website to see a little of my Alaska.
