Just to let everyone know.....I'm still alive and workin' my butt off at my new job.

It hasn't left me much spare time to check the boards here....so I feel a little disconnected, but I try to log in for 1/2 hour in the mornings (like now) to see what's going on.

It's going to be a lot harder to make progress on my K5 now....I just don't have the spare time like I used to, but hopefully this weekend I can start with the 14-Bolt swap and 8-Lug conversion. Fortunately, I don't have to drive the vehicle to work, so I can leave it on jackstands as long as needed..... /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Anyway just wanted to let everyone know I'm still around.....I did negotiate "time off" for BlazerFest and MOAB, so those two events are a done deal for me! /forums/images/icons/cool.gif

Glad to hear your working again.I too dont have much spare time to fool around with my truck.I was working 6am-6pm but now they have me working 10-10 /forums/images/icons/frown.gif

When I did my 14 bolt swap/8 lug conversion,I had the 12 bolt pulled and the 14 bolted in in about 2 hours with hand tools.Up front I think I spent 2 hours per side switching backing plates, cleaning and packing the bearings, putting it all back together, and then grinding to get the wheels to fit.Im sure you can get some fellow CK5ers over to help and get it rollin in a day /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

posion oak is almost gone. the stuff to use is called ZANFEL and it worked great! it took the itch out in 5 minutes!/forums/images/icons/shocked.gif and killed it in 2 days after only two applications.

the trick is its $40 for a 1 OUNCE tube, but i would pay twice that, honestly for such a great product.

    the scars are gnarly :yuck:

    Zakk.

I think I'll take you up on that price! I will wait about a week for my new (non-rusty) battery tray to get here.....I wouldn't want that nice new battery falling out of position /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

ps. I sneak into CK5 for about 60 seconds at a time here.....I'm definitely NOT slacking off at work! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

I sneak about all day. Leave it minimized and refresh every so often. My job is pretty laxed though and I'm on the computer all day. So i have plenty of time to check this in between my emails with friends and other sites :-)

  17. Greg I'll be there to give you a hand if you need it, that way we could pull out my bearing and repack them as well. I just put in new ones but, did'nt have a bearing packer so I put in a bunch of grease but I gotta pull um back out and do um right. Let me know 80K20

most places the people pack the bearings now by hand not a packer. you just take grease in you palm and take the bearing and smash and pull it till the grease is coming out of the top works real well. thought i would let you know....david
