I know a sign maker in Hunting Beach, CA. If you know about electrical signs it's a plus... I'll ask if he needs help right now.

Apply as a maintenance man for a school district. The type that fixes stuff not the type who scrubs toilets. Unless you have no issues with toilets then apply for that. They usually make darn good money, good benefits and have good hours... not what you want but hey for now go with what pays and I know if you have experience in this area it would be something worth persuing...

When I moved from Kansas 12 years ago to California...couldnt find a decent job. At first I worked at an auto parts store for about 6 months...but the pay is so low w/ terrible if any benifits. A friend told me about the grocery business. Raleys and Bel Air Grocery stores are always hiring, many positions...i dont know about sign makers..but i do know that the starting wage for a person that carries out bags is about $7 and a cashier or stocker makes around $18. Full benifits and Union. Alot of kids goto school and work part time... Not to many jobs that welled paid hirring off the street.
