ok, this is getting silly. With gas at $2.05 right now, and expected to peak in late summer near $3.00/gallon ("in some regions") I think its time to get an old 2 door Geo Metro... tune it up, strip out everything I don't need and see if I can get over 50 mpg. lol!

anyone seen a early 90s metro FS recently? Minor body damage is ok, so long as its a 5 speed and reliable. Hardly ever see these in classified ads... should I head over to portland and try some dealers or...?

The cheapest diesel I found last week was $2.399/gallon!

    Some shell stations are $2.569/gallon.

    I need a metro, too!

I'll try and stop today to ask about it in person. I know they have a few cars they want hauled off but I am not sure on the titles situation for the rigs yet.

yeah, at $3 a gallon, I'd be paying $180+ a month just to drive to work (not including getting groceries, going to the PO, etc etc etc etc). Thats getting crazy... time for the junker commuter.... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Yeah, I really am pissed with these prices lately, not like salaries are going up. Matter of fact seems like everything is going up in price... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I have a little 4 banger Isuzu P/U I am gonna get running. Also have a 4 banger Isuzu Trooper, and although the gas mileage is better than a V8, its a 2.6L and about 4000#'s of car, so only gets like 20 MPH these days (185,000 miles).

Just missed my neighbor selling his 90 Metro for $800, ugly as all can be ran okay but got 50+mpg. I don't know of anything else for sale, there are about 4 or 5 small cheap cars for sale right there on 4th Plain next to Sifton Shell station for $300 to $800.

So glad we have the 03 Galant, averaging 32 mpg city /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif Blazer is running pretty good and getting 16 mpg on my little 8 mile round trip jaunts to the school and work /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

probably not in the market for anythng new but the toyota echo gets 40 mpg. my sister in law has one, she's actually selling it since the baby is coming and it's only a 2 door.

diesel and gas are both still just at, or just above $2.00 here. regualar at some pumps is still $1.98 /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
I guess having a job where they buy your gas you don't really worry too much.
