    changing rotor on '89.
have the wheel off, hub partially disassembled.
pulled spring, hub, etc, but am stuck at a round thingie with four cut-outs along edge. does this spin off?
my buddy is doing the job with me, he used to run a tire shop, so he's not an idiot, but he's never done four wheel drive stuff.
please help, i wanna drive home tonight!

Yup, that need to come out. It's basically the nut that holds your rotor assmbly. to the spindle. You can fasten a tool out of some pipe, or goto a parts store and get a 4x4 spindle nut socket to get it off. Or, if you're lucky, you can manage to turn it off w/a screwdriver and pick up the socket when you get your rotors turned. Good luck

does the nut turn correctly to back out? or is it backwards thread?
its on the passenger side, if that matters.
