V1008TYU - My Blazer manual doesn't list this engine number. The guy I bought it from said it came out of a Nova, maybe mid-70's, but I'm not sure. It's a 4 bolt main so it should have come out of a truck but that's not always the case. Can anyone tell me the year and model from the number given?

    Thanks in advance,
    Travis

Don't blame me, I voted for Bush.........I think!

In my Chiltons book it says the V is the manufacturing plant for the engine. 10 is the month of manufacture, 08is the day of manufacture. T is for Truck, so this motor did not come out of a Nova, YU is the engine/tranny combination.

    Hope that helps.

Get the cast number off the block, behind the right? head. Call NAPA, they usually can tell you what it is.
