What's the fastest bestest easiest way to lose an inch from my waist without losing any weight/bulk/size anywhere else? I'm a 33 now and I need to get down to a 32.

Its that last couple of pounds that are the hardest to loose. Starving yourself will work.

Well, actually I've been trying to gain weight. I started a year ago at 118 pounds with a 32" waist. Now I'm 165 pounds with a 33" waist. I'd like to gain another 20 to 30 pounds and get my waist back down to a 32.

Doing some heavy duty ab work and side bends with dumbbells will work fairly well. Although you can't spot-reduce fat by doing this, it will tone your abdominal muscles and in essence "pull up" the excess fat, thereby slimming your waist a little bit. What's with wanting to lose the inch? Don't wanna go buy new pants?:wink1: Congrats on achieving your goal of weight gain and still keeping close to the same size waist. Weight gain/loss is a very difficult thing to do if you are not pre-disposed with the metabolism you want to have. I'm still working on cutting down. I weighed a couple pounds shy of 240 last spring and now I'm at a fairly healthy 195, but still have a ways to go. Kudos to you for attaining what seems to be a healthy addition to your frame. :thumb: And good luck!

Congrats to you for your loss :thumb: I would have to guess it's a lot easier to gain than to lose, so at least it's fairly easy for me.

My main reason for the 32" waist is the fitment of clothing as you guessed. My work uniforms come in 32" or 34". I don't wear belts, and I don't want to gain another inch of waistline, so I'll try to lose an inch. I also like the small waist/big top look. I'm 6' tall, and I think that about 190-200 pounds with a 32" waist would look good.

OK, do you really want to know the best way? Most people don't.

    You burn the fat off.

Any large calorie drop is risky, especially if it's hard for you to gain weight. You can drop fat without losing an ounce of muscle by doing cardio-vascular exercise. You just have to get your heart up to 125-140 bpm continually. Start with 20-30 minutes a session and work up to 45 at most. If you can, do it first thing in the morning, before you eat anything. If you can't make that work, you'll just have to go for longer.

That 1" on the waist is going to be 4-5 lbs of bodyfat. 1lb is about 3500 calories. This tells you how much exercise you'll need. For example, if you burn 600 calories in a session, then you need to do like 23-29 sessions. In reality, it will less than that because you will cut back on the food *just a bit* and you will actually burn more calories all day because of the metabolism boost. So you're probably looking at 5 days a week for a month.

quickest way? Get a sweat suit (plastic suit you wear) and work out or hit a sauna, you'll lose a few lbs of water weight and probably a inch off your waist, but it'll come back. when you re hydrate

I've heard of people losing as much as 2" from their waste from one good colon cleansing session. Go get the poop out! hahaha

What's your body fat %? As stated before, the only way to permenantly reduce the size of you waste is to reduce you body fat %. I am assuming that you have been weight training and incorporating an ab routine into your regiment, so more cardio is your answer as well as a possible adjustment to your diet. May need to reduce the carbs and/or sugar in you current diet.

    Yucky!

My regiment includes eating irresponsibly as often as I want to. My job is very physically demanding and I stay fairly busy around the house/shop, so my body fat isn't too high. It's like an all-day exercise program.

Here is what I just ate, and now I'll be going to sleep shortly (if I ever get tired).
