Specifically I need to know what software you guys use to get rid of junk and optimize my system. Its starting to drag.

Its not a hardware issue - I have fast hardware, its just cloged with junk.

Basically it's a program that organizes your files for maximum efficiency and gets rid of unused remnants.

Here's a page for XP optimizations, not sure which system you use.

Whatever you do have a restore option in case something go wrong. You might PM Ratchet, he's a computer savvy tweeker.

Delet any uneccesary programs. Make sure you don't have a 100 programs loading on start up. Make sure all your RAM is registering. Run scans for viruses, trojans, ads, and spyware.

    Failing that, overclock the bitch.

Do as everyone sez. Scan for virus, spyware, delete old unused programs ect.
Then clean your registry. I use http://regvac.com/fregvac.htm
Its free to DL. Susposed to buy after 30 days but it still works if you dont buy. You just dont have support and cant upgrade/update without buying.
It is a very easy program to use. Pretty much all automatic. Getting all the junk out of the registry will definatly speed up your comp.

Thanks. I ran the virus scan (norton) and adaware - no problems there. I also ran a registery cleaner yesterday which helped a lot. I think that the problem is that I just have too much crap running at the same time, so I am going to try to get the start menu cleared up and then optimize the structure.

When your norton subscription runs out, trash it and use AVG. Norton is probably the biggest resource hog on your comp.
