Does anyone besides myself get a little nervous that on Google Maps we can zoom NOT only peoples homes and schools but also able to zoom in on the Whitehouse, Pentogon, Golden Gate Bridge, Staue of Liberty, and FREAKIN Area 51!!! Yea, it's kinda cool to get area photos at the tip of your finger tips but come on. Anyway, back to the maps....anybody want to send me an address so I can check out your pad?:D

I zoomed down on the Grand Canyon and was 'down' at river level looking up at the ridges.
    It's pretty cool!

Send me your address. Then, I can get a look at those axles. It might help if you put some sort of identifiers nearby and make sure there's no trees in the way.:deal:

Places like area 51 know when sat's are overhead, and when they aren't. You aren't likely to be seeing any metal disks parked nearby the place on Google Earth any time soon. ;)

Hey that would make a pretty cool spoof though. If someone knew when the google earth satellite would be photographing, go lay out some aluminum foil disks in flying formation or something. lol

To get back to your question, no, it doesn't make me nervous. No one has a right to privacy outdoors in the open. Satellites have been able to peer down on us for decades. The images that the military and government agencies have at their disposal puts Google Maps stuff to shame. They get resolutions down to inches. It's just that now, for the first time, ordinary people have access to some of those cool images too.

I assume that when you list all of the monuments you listed that you are concerned about terrorists having access to those images. In an open country like we have it's a moot point. If they can get in to bomb they can can get in to take their own pictures and wouldn't have to rely on Google anyway.

I think personally that the good uses of technology like this far outweigh the bad stuff that *could* happen.

And you guys are right, I've wasted hours of time looking at tons of stuff. You should try out Google Earth sometime.

Same thing most of the other people have said. I knew the military had excellent satalite capabilities, just thinking about terrorist I guess. But like you said, if they want to bomb us bad enough they are going to do it anyway.

I checked it out TSGB. Man I would hate to live in the city. I grew up in the city, moved to the sticks at 18 and hopefully will never have to go back. My only regret... No pizza delivery.:D

I've been half city, half country. This is my first place on my own.

Check out 305 Nick Rd., 98531. That's the last place I lived.

There is this huge field near my home. If I asked the owner, I know he would let me mow a message into it. The problem is that I don't know when the sat. will fly over. And based on the current pics it ain't been there in a few years. If anyone ever discovers the schedule for flyovers... I will go mow... CK5.com into the field by my house.

This could open up a whole new type of advertising... Hmmmm :thinking::thinking:
