Well I decided I was going to build my own gas tank/ tool box for the step side, it will hold around 27 gallons give or take Im using the factory sending unit and gas pump.the top portion is 5 inches deep and 9 inches wide and 49 inches long, but I will be putting a little wall between the sending unit and the rest of the tool area.

I think it is 7 gauge, I put stiffners inside the tank so it be like a pop can.

I know its stronger then factory and I am using the factory sending unit, factory fill neck and factory overflow out of my old tank, so I dont see any real problems.

Id be more worried about my passenger saddle tank that leaks if your at to much of an angle, more then a tank I built myself

Ive also come to notice in the last few years the DOT have their head stuck far up somewhere it shouldnt be most days. This is in Iowa anyway.

I say because, its "unlawfull" to put gasoline in non-gasloine containers.. so i would assume the same would apply for automotive gas tanks..

Just something to check before you fail inspection(would they even inspect that)

write "gas" on it then it is a specified gasoline container :D

no different than the millions of service tanks on the back of farm trucks.
