I think i\'m putting my baby up for sale :(

I think it's time, I need something newer. She's a 1989 silverado with 160K. I'm asking $7,000. If anyone's interested let me know and i'll tell you about all the extra's, i'm in southern California (Ventura County)to be exact. My boyfriend will be taking over the job of finally selling her since it's under his name thank's,

With so little mileage?? My 91 has 210k and still cheaper than the car which has 30k on it.
Anything newer but outside warranty is NOT worth it!
You need to go wear-out that new starter first!

No kidding, man. If I could do it again I would have bought something old instead of my 96 Z34 Monte. The cost of the parts are killing me! $200 for plugs and wires, and I did them myself? WTF?

a lot of people dont think about that, the cost of repairs on a newer auto. i think its much better to fix up an older one and have half the money in it. but you have to do what you think is best.

How come you are selling it? Just to get something newer? I'd keep it... a newer whatever you get is higher insurance payments. Then you get car payments. Then the repair costs are more. As much as gas kills me on my Blazer a new truck with all those things I listed plus gas would kill me more..... Something to consider is what will you be saving over all? If not a thing, why sell it? Chances are keeping it will be the cheaper way to go not to mention you get to still cruise around in the Blazer! Which is reason enough to keep it!

How long have you had the blazer? If you get something that's not brand new, but newer, there is still a big chance that somethings going to go out on it. You already know how reliable your blazer is. I had a blazer a while ago, and sold it. I bought a "newer" s-10. Well, I sold that and bought another blazer. You're gonna shell out a lot of bones on something that you'll know is reliable and "newer". My blazer that I have right now is a '79. It is quiet as can be inside (except for the glove box rattle which I don't know if I want to fix or not [IMG]), and is comfortable. You heard about Rene getting rearended from behind, right? The impact speed was 55mph. There is a very good chance that he would not have been able to go home to his daughters and wife that day if he was driving something "newer". And there's no way in HELL that a "newer" truck, car, anything would have been able to go 2500 mile round trip after a wreck like that! Just my .02 cents. You'll kick yourself later if you sell. Hi eveyone,

Thanks for your advice, I've had the Blazer for about 2 in a half years now and since than I have put over $4,000 dollars into it. She's nickle and dimming me to death. I'm thinkinkg of getting a 1997 and up Chevy Tahoe 4x4, I know that having a truck payment will suck but it's better than not knowing whats going to go next. It is time to part, I will get some pictures of her soon. I left a post of all her mods on the Blazers for sale forum, check it out and let me know if anybody is interested thanks,

I still say keep it because if you do look at the big picture a 1997 Tahoe will cost you more then your Blazer will... but again that's just my opinion...

Re: I think i\'m putting my baby up for sale :(

I'm not trying to argue with you here, so I hope you don't think that! [IMG] If the headaches are like your Blazers engine and tranny are about to blow then yeah I can see your point. But really over all what is the condition of the Blazer? You know exactly what you have and exactly what to expect from it because you know it so well. If it's costs of repairs that's having you sell it, trust me if you think the Blazers are high the Tahoe's will down right shock you. I'm learning to work on mine. I'm lost right now and can barely do jack, but I am learning. Before this site I didn't know I could do it myself. Now with the help of these fine folks I can. It'd be worth it to give it a shot to try to keep it and learn it yourself. The money you will save honestly will be worth it. You'll be able to fix stuff on your Blazer way easier and cheaper then a Tahoe. A 1997 Tahoe won't have a warrenty. You'll have to buy that extra if anything if it's from a dealer. Most of those warrenty's aren't worth much anyhow. They cover nothing if you look at them... but whatever floats your boat is what I say. If a newer Tahoe will make you happy then go for it! [IMG] But I'd hang onto the Blazer until end of summer and try what I said and learn what you can about working on it... if by then you don't want it then sell it. But maybe once you see you can do it yourself and the cash you'll save you'll keep it... or sell it if you hated the time you used to try that.... again just my opinion...!

Not to mention the look on guys faces when you start talking over their head. It looks alot like this one ---->[IMG][IMG]. And, that tahoe will still break down, but will cost more to fix. I dunno...it's your choice. BUT! If I catch you cruisen the "For sale" board looking for a blazer, I'm gonna tell you "I told ya so!!!!!" [IMG]. Good luck either way you go! [IMG]

If your blazer is paid for all you have to do is take out a loan for $3000.00 to $5000.00 and get rid of all your head aches and have a much lower payment and no more nickle and dime problems. Just a thought.

Good luck

See Ya,
Keith

More money but less headaches...??? Ummmm, no.
When you have problems, and ALL vehicles will, it will cost
much more for the newer rigs. Even with warranty since you get to pay diagnostics and deductibles.
If you plan on wheelin or don't get a warranty, you are in for a new class of pain with a newer vehicle.
I don't think you will get support from this group - you are asking a biased crowd! :)

the tahoe sounds good but if you don't have a diagnostics machine to hook up to it plan on paying at least $60 bucks an hour just for labor if something does go wrong.
just a thought.
