I love black labs, golden retrievers, and border coulies(sp?)

Any of those would make a great pooch.

I have never been without a K9 companion. I had a manager at an apartment suggest that I should get rid of my dog so I could get an apartment at their fine complex. I laughed so hard I about pee'd myself. I guess she weren't a pet person.

I have a Schipperkee/Terrier Mix. He is a PIA and I love that about him.

Remember, SPAY AND NEUTER, Vacinate, and Train. If you can't afford any of the above, perhaps consider waiting until you can.

Good luck and do your research if you are going to LOOK for a dog. Don't just believe what other say about a breed. Make sure that the energy level of your future companion is compatible with your energy level and available time. And NO PUPPY MILLS, there are 100's of 1000's of dogs in shelters and adoptions organizations that need your love, Don't pay for what you can find for free.

Ok, anyone else want to borrow my soapbox?

Shepherd/Black Lab mix. Mutts are the best.

Bulldogs are known to have respiratory problems. The also produce ALOT of gas, but I love them anyway.
I would suggest looking at your lifestyle and picking a dog that fits it. Big dogs need big space. All the Rotties I have seen that are inside dogs turn into butterballs.
I got my Akbash from a shelter when she was 3 months old. She is a monumental PITA, but I love her totally. First year she ATE the interiors of 3 different vehicles-door handles, seats, headliner, dash.
One of the positives-I can leave my truck anywhere, with the keys and Cirrus inside, and know it will still be there when I come back.

    Kato: Full blooded AKC shepherd...R.I.P

Mesa: Lab/Shepherd mutt...soon to get the green needle, hips failing.

I love the big work class breeds but also have over two acres fenced in. Big dogs can get mean if chained or confined. They need space and lots of human interaction...more demanding then humans, but excellent companions and protectors of home and family.
