cool beans, welcome aboard. My wife was born/raised in Longview before I spirited her away to the 'Couve. What is your MOS in the army? Back in my Marine days, I was 0311. Never went to the sandbox though. Hope you are taking care of yourself and your friends. :thumb: :usaflag:

I'm a 63H, thats a tracked vehicle mechanic. Haven't worked on any tanks lately though. I guess I'm just a do-it-all diesel mech. The Marines do the MOS thing a little different so I don't know what a 0311 is. We're all doing fine over here, just itching to get back home in November and get to work on my K5. Thanks for the warm welcome:D:usaflag:

I still have 18 months in active duty, makes 6 years total. I'm looking for something a little more boring when I get out:D

But not too boring, Maybe I'll try my hand in the 4x4 business...

I think I'm going to try to stay away from the military after I get out.

    I know, I know... That's What They All Say.:doah:

I think the Army version of 0311 is just 311B or 11B something like that. Grunt... ground pounder, infantry, green monster from the sea... killing machine, blah blah blah. ;)

    Marine Infantry...
You are indeed a better man than I.
I wouldn't be able to hang, there's something about being 6' 4" that the infantry doesn't like....too big of a target maybe?

yeah, for some reason tall guys tend to not do so well. If you look at the legendary Marine grunt heros, they are pretty much all short guys. Dan Daly (who earned two Congressional Medals of Honor!) was about 5'5" and never weighed over 135 pounds. I guess being a small target is pretty helpfull. ;)

At any rate, all veterans deserve an equal amount of respect, no matter what their MOS is. The only guys that get extra kudos are actual combat vets. Fortunately for the bad guys health and welfare, they decided not to start any crap while I was in (93-97)... so I'm not a combat vet.... just another guy doing his part like you. :thumb:

    135lbs... I'm a whole person more than that.:haha:
But on a serious note, I agree whole heartedly that all veterans should be treated equally and with the respect that they deserve. That is why it pains me to see all the resentment in the media towards our armed forces past and present.

Too Old? NEVER!!... I work with DOD contractors over here that are in their sixties. I wouldn't suggest it, but they make a lot more money than me
