Did you see the gray chevy roll that same day? Might have been after that blazer. I got there after the blazer rolled.

Man that top came off in a hurry. Good reason for roll bars! I don't think anyone in there had on a 4 point, 5 point, or any other point harness. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif Looked like at least one made it out ok.

yup, that video is making the rounds.

they lost a bead, had no cage or roll bar, driver had no seat belt, kid in the truck.

pretty fawking stupid of that guy to hope a fiberglass top would save him. I'm not sure if it is good or bad that it did. The gene pool needs all the help it can get.

That top came off WAY too easy. I wonder how many bolts he had holding it on? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I've seen K5's roll a lot harder than that and still have the top attached. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

    Is that Potato Salad hill??

Looks like losing the bead was incidental, I think he was going over regardless...

Do you know if the kid and the driver were OK?

That's the only thing I don't like about the full tops. If you noticed, the parts that bolt to the top of the side rails stayed on. The whole thing just crumbled. The only thing holding it at the front of course is the window frame which doesn't exactly make a good roll bar. My black 84 was rolled by its last owner and the top got one crack in the middle from a rock. Repaired it and it was still on the truck when I got rid of it. I had to replace a lot of glass though.

Theres something to be said about the factory internal roll bar in the half cab, those hold up quite well. Either way though, you wouldn't catch me doing that without a full cage, especially with my kid in the truck! The sad thing is that he probably won't invest in a cage since he got lucky and avoided injury without one... or a seat belt. Probably didn't have a highlift, tow strap, spare tire or fire extinguisher either.

so when you say idiots of the year, are you refering to the dipshit that didnt think he needed a seat belt or cage?
or the dumbasses that gather at the BASE of a nasty obstical thats famous for rolling rigs down its face?
or could it be the pricks that cheer before they even see if the guy is still alive? yeah man, EJS is not where i want to wheel.

Some peoples kids just dont learn and I agree, I think the gene pool does need to be thinned out from time to time.

Ouch! I hadn't run it in full screen mode so I didn't notice that the bottom part of the topper was still bolted to the truck! /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif The topper on my '75 has plugged holes in the topper, right where the shoulder harnesses would attach. I guess that now I know why I've never seen a '73-'75 model with the shoulder harnesses installed.... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I'm glad that mine has the factory roll bar! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif (And someday I'll get the rest of the cage installed and welded to it!) /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

They are damn lucky! I would have to say! /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif
One of the limiting factors for me going to Moab last year was the fact that I had no cage or floor for that matter. I'm sure glad I got it all in in time. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
I would always like to at least walk back to camp after a day of wheelin'. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
