I can't get my cross member for the trany to fit. I swapped out tranys and now the bolt holes are not up as far as I need them to be. Do I drill new holes? I hate to do that on the frame. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had to drill new holes when I swapped from the Turbo 350 to a Turbo 400. Just drill 'em and bolt it up. [IMG]

I had to drill new holes to make a 700r4 replace a 350. Just do it. No harm done.

I agree, drill it. But you might want to consider using a thick gauge metal plate as a backing plate to distribute the shock on this area.
    Just a thought, Shawnboy.

swapped in a th400, had to drill new holes. I also planned on running a brace down the frame rail to reinforce it.

Re: If it doesn\'t Fit, do you make it?

Drilling a hole is not a problem. Any time I change anything like that or get the chance while I have something apart I try to rplace all bolts with atleast grade 5 if not grade 8 bolts and nuts. Especially if It has been taken apart a couple of times. There is nothing any more agrivating than a bolt or nut that is rounded or rusted up. Or just plain damn stubborn..........

Sometimes a little may help alot. Especally if you have to break it down on the trail. Your not all ways working in great enviroment anyways. So any help is allways needed!!!!

Did a TH 350/203 to 700R4/205 swap had to drill new holes. Get the cross member all the way up to the frame and center it (measure from frame rail to output yoke on both sides). Clamp cross member to the frame and with a 1/2 inch bit just barely touch the frame to get a reference mark for the center punch. Center punch the mark and drill a small starter hole. Then work up to a 7/16" bit. I replaced my old bolts with 7/16" grade bolts, washers and nuts. The frames strong don't worry about the other holes.

How'd you hook an NP 205 to a 700R4? Did you have to change the tailshaft?

I switched from a TH350 to a 700R4. I put in an extra crossmember and just drilled new holes. Been in there for 5 years now with no problems. Hope this helps!
