then it's longtime past to disband the UN./forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gifFor their grandstanding end-run around the Constitution to call on
the United Nations to monitor our presidential election, 13
Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives must be censured!
They have violated their oath to uphold the Constitution by throwing
their support to a foreign power, and your help is needed! Please go
to ConservativePetitions.com to see what is at stake. Here's the
    address:
    http://www.conservativepetitions.com/petitions.php?id=278

The 13 Representatives -- Corrine Brown of Florida, Julia Carson of
New York, William Lacy Clay of Missouri, Joseph Crowley of New York,
Elijah Cummings of Maryland, Danny K. Davis of Illinois, Raul
Grijalva of Arizona, Michael M. Honda of California, Eddie Bernice
Johnson of Texas, Brenda Lee of South Carolina, Carolyn Maloney of
New York, Jerrold Nadler and Edolphus Towns of New York -- must pay
for their partisan gall of sending a letter asking U.N. Secretary-
General Kofi Annan to "deploy election observers" across our nation
    prior to the November vote.

Sign a petition urging Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert and House
Majority Leader Tom DeLay to censure the 13 for purposefully
humiliating America before the world by claiming the Bush
Administration, like some tin-pot dictatorship, cannot be trusted to
conduct a fair election! Here again is where to make your stand:
    http://www.conservativepetitions.com/petitions.php?id=278

For effect, the Congressmen are grossly exaggerating the controversy
over the 2000 election, which Democrats wrongly claim was stolen by
George W. Bush. The letter shows what great anti-America lengths
liberals are willing to go to get their man elected, and why the
    Representatives must be censured.

Are not these Congressmen sworn to uphold the Constitution that
protects America's foundation of independence, of sovereignty from
foreign powers and influences, of self-government? Then don't let
them get away with their unconstitutional ploy!

The House must hold its members to a minimal ethical and legal
standard that doesn't include the premeditated embarrassment of our
nation. Representatives must uphold the Constitution, not dishonor
it by faking a move to the U.N. just to spin bad propaganda in an
all-out effort to steal the Oval Office. Act now at:
    http://www.conservativepetitions.com/petitions.php?id=278

    -- ConservativePetitions.com

P.S. Partisan politics is one thing, but this humiliating tactic is
quite another. We, the people, cannot tolerate public officials who
take their sworn duties so lightly, who cast aside the Constitution
so recklessly, who seek to give the world such an ugly and false
impression of our nation. After signing, please alert everyone you
know to the fact these Congressmen have gone too far and must pay an
    example-making price!
WTF ARE THESE IDIOTS THINKING? /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

Well see, the democrats are working hard to make sure that blacks can eventually, if we give them enough "opportunity", be treated as equals. Meanwhile, the Republicans are actually appointing blacks to powerful positions within government. Oh wait, those particular blacks, the ones that get appointed to high offices, they're sellouts and not "real" blacks, according to the black Democrats. /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

I heard about this sometime last week and it has me worried. The UN is definitely overstepping their boundry on this one.

However, wtf does race have to do with this. It's a messed up situation no matter who is responsible. To say it's some kind of racial issue is /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif

I have no idea, lumberboy said something about blacks and the naacp and I took the tangent and ran. Hijack off...

I heard about this UN thing a while back, it's stupid but what do you expect? John Kerry has said that he thinks US forces should only be deployed at the whim of the UN. It doesn't bother liberals, so those congressmen are just appealing to their base. /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif

The UN is not going to be at our elections because it would take the President to ask for them.

The State department did ask for the Europeon organization to come and watch our election though. They are going to be here and they were here duing the 2002 election.

From what I have heard, it is true. Heard about it on the news about 3 weeks ago. The story is that the Bush Administration balked at the UN, but then did some pseudo silent dealing and ask for the European Union to send some observers over, apparently to foster good will with them since they are a bunch of Tofu chomping pansies.

The OSCE is not the UN, and that article said that the agreement was signed 10 years ago. That would have been a Clinton deal. This will not be the first election that they have monitored either. Reading through the spin, it looks like Bush is just standing up to commitments that were made by a previous president, but CNN is trying to make it look like he caved to the Dem's request for UN monitoring.

    Schematics.................

The blurb I heard on the news went "UN requested, Bush to them to F off, then stuck under the radar this European thing." Of course it was also mainstream media.

You heard it on the mainstream media, and that's exactly it. Seems to me that they're spinning it to make you see it how they want you to see it.

    That's pretty messed up!

Was it someone here who said it would be something akin to having a standing foreign army on U.S. soil if the U.N. did deploy observers at every polling place?

The U.N. should be disbanded anyway, it's a corrupt, inept, questionably effective organization.

Yeah that was me. The reason I said that is because if the u.n. was to be allowed to monitor our elections they would put two observers per polling place which worked out to something like 20,000 observers. In my mind that is a standing foriegn army. Thankfully they will not be observing... at least that we know of.
