Illinois will begin using photo radar in freeway work zones in July.
Beginning in July the State of Illinois will use speed cameras in areas
designated as "work zones" on major freeways. Anyone caught by the
devices will be mailed a $375 ticket for the first offense, a second
ticket is $1000 and a 90-day license suspension. Drivers will also
receive demerit points against their license, which allows insurance
companies to raise their insurance rates. This represents the harshest
penalty structure yet for a city using photo enforcement. The state will
begin with two camera vans issuing tickets in zones with speed limits
lowered to 45 MPH. Photographs of both the driver's face and license
    plate are taken.

i will believe that when i see it.

the construction zones on Illinois Tollroads are so ****ed up there is no where they could mount a camera or park a van.

we have some of the highest and taxes for highway, and yet our roads are some of the ****tiest i have driven on.

but thats the democrats and union labor for you.

for instance, one of the main highways near me (South West Highway) is a concrete road for the most part, they havent touched it for as long as i remember, grant it, it has some chipped areas and cracks, but it hasnt had worked done to it for atleast 25yrs and was in good condition.

well the cut out areas, filled them in with concrete, and then preceded to chomp off the first 2" of all the concrete to make way for the asphalt.

why? in other spots i know they have repaved atleast twice in the past 10 years.
why go from durable to crap. only way i can see is to keep the highway workers with job security.

My bro in law just emailed me. He's in Illinois. I think he said it was in one of the newspapers. Illinois has another fun law that says you cannot drive in the left lane for more than 1/2 mile without being ticketed. They want it used for passing only..like it should be

This is a joke, all it is for is for them to bend us over further and pull more money out of our asses. EVERY tollway and interstate is under construction right now in this area. Hell, there are sections of 294 that have been "work zones" for 3 years, and they havent been touched for 2. Illinois is one giant dissaster, and our roads all suck ass.

This is only the beginning of the further raping of the people that live here, as now they are trying to pass I-pass enforcement of speed limits. They are trying to average the time it takes you to pass between 2 toll booths, and if that average is over the speed limit, they want to mail you a ticket. First they doubled the toll's for anybody not having an I-pass, bassically forcing you to buy one if you travel many toll roads, and now they are going to pull this ****.

Im going to stop while im ahead, i could go on for hours about the ****sticks who run this state and all the **** they pull, and i can already feel my blood pressure rising from just thinking about it. Especially the completely moronic projects involving the I-355 extension and the mall they are building here in town, all being fed by 2, 2 lane roads that they refuse to expand.
