Wow! I never had such troubles before going on a trip.
It started out good (I thought), we heard that Denver was expecting a big snow storm on the 10th and it started to snow up here in the Mtn.s on the 8th so we decided to head down early, just in case. We spent the night in Denver on Fri & Sat night. Friday night we went out for a nice fish dinner and Sat. we went to the Off-Hwy Expo. It was pretty cool. We went out for dinner at the Denver Chop house - good steaks!
We got up at 4:00am to get to the airport early. It started snowing at about 4:30 am. We got to the airport at 5:30 and it was snowing hard. Our plane was to leave at 7:30 but by then, they had closed the airport :( . Most airlines cancelled all flights but Continental said they were going to wait it out and see if they could get some of the planes out. Well, by 6:00 pm it let up a little so we went for it. We were one of only nine planes to go for it.
We made it to Houston at about 11:30 pm, missed our connecting flight but at least we were out of there. We caught the only flight to San Juan PR the next day and I advised our connecting airline that we would be cutting it close but wanted to get on the last plane to St. Thomas. We got slightly delayed out of Houston and when we got to San Juan, the wife ran for the gate and I ran to get the bags and hit the ticket counter. I got to the ticket counter 40 min. before the flight and the guy/A-hole behind the counter said they closed the flight 5 min. before and no matter what I did, he wouldn't let us on :angry1: . I ran to another island hopper and found a plane that we could still get on but by the time the idiots got a hold of my wife to get her up to the ticket counter, it was too late!!!!! I was on fire.
We ended up staying at the PO $hit Best western at the airport for $150.
We made it there the next day after partying in San Jaun until 2:30 am. Left at 7:00 am. and got there the next day but wow, what a PITA!
    To rap it up,
We missed the 1st night in San Juan staying at a nice hotel w/casino.
Spent the night at the Holiday inn in Houston.
Missed the next plane and a night at the condo on the beach of St. Thomas,
spent the night in the airport hotel at $150.
After we got there, we met our friends and had a great time :cool1: .
We did sunset sailing, wnet to the baths in Virgin Gorda, snorkeled at Peter island in the caves BVI, went to a wedding on the beach, and many other fun things. We caught the fast ferry to St. Croix and had a great stay there too.
It was hard to come home. It's snowing here now and we have had 4"s so far.
    I WANNA GO BACK!!
I put some pictures up soon. Sorry for the long story.
    *New*
BTW, here's where I had diner last week :D

The cocktails were pretty good too but the drive down the hill was like....
OH $hit! I hope this rental car has good brakes!
I had one hill in a sub on the north west end that I almost thought we weren't going to make it. The crappy rental car bearly had enough power and I hit it in 1st with the motor reving. It started to break the whimpy tires loose and I thought, dam, if it doesn't make it, were going to be in big trouble.
It would be a fun place for the K5 though.

Fun fun fun fun. I just hate when there are hitches in travel plans when in the middle of the travellin. All the b.s. prolly made the rest of the trip more memorable I bet though.

That's crazy, 5 minutes and they wouldn't help? At least you had fun when you got there!

Some friends of ours were headed for a wedding in Hawaii and United flight was cancelled. Flew out the next day on a frontier and stayed an extra few days. Lot of people got stranded at DIA.

Yep, I bet a lot of people where pissed off. I will give Continental a thumbs up for not just calling it quites like the rest. The crazyest part was that we could have taken the chance on one plane coming in from NY that was going back that night and they would have flown us directly to St. Thomas but it would have been a loooong night and if it didn't make it in or out, we would have been stuck. I checked on it later and found out that it did make it in & out that night :doah: . We would have made it to St. Thomas on time if we would have taken the chance. Who knew.
We had a blast anyway and justhorsinaround is right, it will make it more memorable this way. Man it was hard to come home.
The good news is that we have a showing of our house tomorrow so my fingers are crossed. If we sell the place we might just head south  Maybe even an island? I wonder what it would cost to get it there?? :cool1:

Eye patch! you should see me after about 20-40 jack & cokes,
I don't need no stinkin eye patch, I'm half blind by then anyway :cool1: .
The funniest thing that kept happening to me when I was down there was quite a few of the locals kept asking me what part of the island I was from :D . I just made stuff up....hehe
I seem to fit right in down there.
