I have learned the hard way, that all banks are out to get you. I can assure you changing banks will only make you happy at first, until you start getting shafted again. It pays to take the time to read all those pages of microscopic **** they give you when you open an account. Do not trust anything they verbally tell you, as they will not tell you if you dont ask and sometimes they will mislead you if you do ask.

I have been using a credit union for as long as I can remember. They have great service, and I cant complain about them at all. Well... they do charge you twice for nonmember ATM usage (once for the host ATM fee, again for a 'foreign transaction fee'), but thats gotta be my only complaint.

Do you have any credit unions in your area?

I vote for the credit union deal too. I've got no complaints whatsoever!

Big banks are a much larger PITA than local banks or credit unions.

Banks are a neccesary evil. If you learn to play them right you can do fine but its a prety steep learning curve that I am still working my way up.

my favorite tactic with banokofamerica was this... a couple month would go by without any service fees or other BS. then if my credit limit came close they'd add on like $150 of service account fees, on sundays no less, to push it over my credit limit which in turn they would then up the interest rate and charge an over-limit fee. after the second time that happened I cut up my card.

I've found that larger national banks suck ass. I only use local banks... much better service all around.

I bank with Wells Fargo... but then I work for Wells Fargo, so everything is free. I don't pay fees for pretty much any service. :thumb:

My suggestion is, if you don't like annoying nick-nack fees, find a good credit union. Preferably one that has lots of ATMs in your area so you don't have to pay that lame "not our atm!" fee.
