I\'m going to kill my truck and sell it. [probably not]

Why!? seriously. . . why does something have to screw up every second? the transmission, now this- the rear end AGAIN!

every time i turn right or left really hard it sort of bucks lightly like a spider gear is broken, but i never heard anything break! any ideas what it could be before i pull the cover?

and if someone offered me a ton of money, i probably would sell it. . .buy a chevelle or nova or camaro and drop a nice 454 in /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

    thanks,

Have you ever tried fixing the loose nut behind the wheel?

a locker in the rear will give you that kind of sensation going around turns if its locking up because you're turning too fast...

It's tough sometimes...but all you can do is fix or upgrade stuff the best possible way each time the opportunity presents itself. Doing half-assed repairs and just throwing unchecked parts under the truck just leads to more frustration later.

    Good luck...

hey now- the blocks were crap- i just about rebuilt that rearend and spent LONG hours putting those gears in. no- i dond't have a locker- i was asking about the second response talking about tightening a bolt. i know what a locker is. rusty- i don't halfass my jobs- maybe i screw up- but i'll be the first to admit that, i'm 16 inexperienced and i don't know everything, and that's why i'm asking, but i don't think that my installation is causing this clunking.

My response was more of a generalization than pointing a finger. We've all done it...

I hate doing stuff twice, sometimes it's just bad planning, sometimes it's budget related and sometimes I was just in too much of a rush.

I think what he meant was the loose nut(lunatic) behind the wheel(steering wheel).

Are you sure your gears are spaced right? I know how much that can be a PIA doing it yourself. Just a suggestion is all.

    yes, they are. . .

but if they weren't it would always clunk right? not just around turns. . . i jacked it up and put it in neutral and turned the driveshaft by hand holding one wheel (did it with each wheel) and i heard no clunks, and felt nothing wrong. . . hmm . . . i don't want to have to pull the cover because that means getting more gear oil and scraping off that RTV. . . i will if i have to. . . maybe it wasn't in the rear end. . . any other diagnostic test ya'll can think of?
    thanks,

How is the tranny mount? A cornering force with a bit of gas pedal will usually make that clunk and bang if it's bad...plus you've had some bad things happen recently that could have damaged it./forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Take a pry bar or crow bar and try and pry up on the tranny...if the mount is bad the tranny and T-case will lift off the cross member.

check the body mounts. could need new bushings or new body mounts.
    also check the engine mounts.
may be missing a bolt, or need new rubber.

What t case do you have? 205 or 203?
I has a 75 that under acceleration or turining a corner would clunk.
I turned out that it was the chain in the 203 slipping.
    Just my .o2
Felt like it was coming from the rear but later I found out it was the chain after I sold it.
btw, don't go street, it's just goin to get you tickets.
it's alot easier to hide a rig in some trees with the lights off then try to out run a cb.

it's a part time 203. i'll try those things tomorrow, thanks. tickets? not around here! no lift laws (that any cops know or give a crap about- if you take the truck off-road it is legal it's considered multi-purpose then) and as it turns out we had a cop look up any laws about straight pipes and they couldn't find any, and said if it has an inspection sticked it's legal.
