Hey everyone, i've got myself a 72 K-5 and when i turn the engine off it sputters and clunks around for a little bit. I've heard it's timing but i'd appreciate all of the insight i can get. Thanks for the time. Charlie

    Hey dude. welcome.
    Sounds like its deiseling huh.
Like i told you in the chat room, you can keep it in gear while you turn off the key, and then put it in park... that is if it's an auto.
Your idle mixture could be a bit rich... what carb do you have?
Your timing could also be a bit advanced. You could try retarding the timing some.
I have tried all of this and have not been able to get the deiseling to quit on my blazer.
I just keep it in gear when i turn it off and not worry about it.

An overly lean mix can also cause deiseling...running lean creates hot spots in the cylinders that will ignite the air/fuel mix even after the key is turned to 'off'...
