Anyone else getting hammered with instant messages lately for porn sites? I have AOL (yeah I know, but I get it cheap so works for me), but have it blocked out 95% of the time to not accept instant messages unless I see someone I want to talk too.

I will turn on AIM usually instead, yahoo or icq.... soon as I do, I am getting these. It's really annoying. You block one out, they change their name and send it again. I noticed with the better email spam protection I stopped basically getting this crap. So it seems this is the new way to get around it. I am about to kill someone. I literally mean it. /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif I left AIM on last night when I went to bed, went to check email this morning, I had 15 of these things. WTF? /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif Anyone else sick of this crap? /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

You can set it up so only the people in your buddy list can IM you.

I know, and I used to do that. But sometimes I have had people like from here message me not on my list to chat. I don't want to block them. I guess I will have to resort to that. Really annoying you have to block out people you want to talk too to avoid the idiots.

Theres a couple of programs you can try.
First and foremost...download SpyBot, install it and run it then let it clean out all the spy and ad-ware thats on your system which lets them know when your on and where your surfing so they can spam you.
Second...you can try the free Pop-up Stopper by Panicware.
    Works well for me /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I have ad aware. These are not pop ups, these are people who make up an AIM user name, and send you a IM with their ad for porn in it. You block it, they change the user name, and send it again. Basically like I said, their way of now sending you this crap since spam has been cracked down on so hard in the last few months. I guess like I said I will block out everyone not on my list. Sucks too because I enjoy talking to people who might message me from here or other boards, and now if they are not on my list they can't reach me...
