This issue is probably a sore one for some of you. And I'm certainly not fond of beating dead horses but...did anyone else notice that the infamous 12-Bolt front axle was mentioned in this month's 4 Wheel and Off-road? (May 2002, pg 156)

Drum roll...."There's no such axle as a front 12-bolt"!

It's in print...so it must be true. ;-)

Tell that to executioner, he's the one who thinks his front D44 is a 12 bolt instead! /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

I haven't seen the issue, but I'm pretty sure I remember within the past year in Off-Road some guy got bored and had a 12 bolt rearend modified to use D44 front tubes and axles, thus making a 12 bolt front. Now we all know that there is no such thing as a 12 bolt front, but if you have enough money and it is burning a whole in your pocket, you can build anything you want. By the way, did I mention what a huge waste of money that would be?

I think they should put the crack pipe down. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif They don't even say anything about the D60 being a front axle.

IIRC the axle in the pictures accompanying that story was a 10 bolt.
you pretty much have to ignore the rags for tech

Speaking of money to spend, I know a guy who has a 9" front axle with D60 outers on his CJ, and a rear one to match.
Got 'em done at a place in Dallas I believe, Sunray Engineering is the name of the place think.
