I found this today in a load of washed rock. I just about threw it in the pile, but I noticed how round it was, and how well it fit my hand. The bottom is flat, and the top has a pretty uniform radius. Any experts (or non-experts, for that matter) have an opinion?

If it is, it's likely used for pounding something, or grinding, as with flour. My aunt finds stuff like that around her place all the time.

As a renowned petrologist, which is a branch of Geology dedicated to studying rocks, I have examined your pictures with great interest.

And I can state unequivocally with no fear of contradiction, that is most definitely.........................................

    A Rock!!!:waytogo:

I am certainly no expert although I do tend to drive over alot of rocks.

Around here that type of stone is fairly common, referred to usually as river rock.

I have dozens in my drive way that if you look at em from straight above look like they could be perfectly round.

They are all nicely rounded on top and flat on the bottom

Thanks for all of the input. I guess it wouldn't surprise me if it was just a rock, but around here that's a little unusual to be so flat on the bottom. Maybe I'll change my plans about selling it on EBay for millions. :thumb:

Now thats funny, My old man plays those kinda games with everybody and I have become well aware just by the glint in his eye that he is about to embark on an epic bull**** story.
We were at my Brothers property walking down a trail, stepping over rattle snakes, me taking up the rear in flip flops with a tall glass of whiskey in hand.

When my Brother reaches down and picks up a hefty sized rock and says "wow, I wonder if this has any value to it?"

My Dads eyes instantly give it away to me so I lay back and wait for what can only be some serious load of crap.

Dad leans over gives a "mmmhmmm, yup, leaverite", now my Brother is hooked, "Lerverite", "No****", "whats this stuff worth? It's all over my property"

Dad spits, by this time I'm snickerin'. "nuthin', leverite there" spits again and continues down the trail, I follow past shaking my head at my Brother who's still holding the rock in sheer disbelief.:haha::haha::haha:
My Dad plays that Sh1t like he's the professor of social engeneering.
