Hey guys, just wanted to know if anyone knows alot about welding up the spider gears in a 14 bolt. A web site would be helpful, but anything would do.

Weld between the teeth so the spiders cannot turn.

Most times you will weld the side gears to the carrier, but in the 14 Bolt, if you decide you don't like the spool and want a Detroit, you're screwed because the Detroit doesn't replace the carrier for the 14 Bolt.

Most guys I hear are using 6013 rods in a stick welder to "Lincoln Lock".

Rene (tRustyK5) has been running this set up for quite awhile. You might shoot him a PM and get his advice.
