well, finaly broke down, and bought a brand new edelbrock Qjet performer from Lopers, and started tearing the old carb off, expecting to find a square based manifold to match it. boy was I wrong, there's a Spreadbore version of the Qjet performer manifold burried under that damn squarebore abomination of a carter. on the positive side, I don't need to replace the manifold, or use an adaptor ( as I planned to do until I replaced the manifold) but on the negative side, I'll be willing to bet thats where a portion of my problems have come from. gah. I want to go punch someone in the damn head.

WOOHOOO!!!!! 95% of my misfiring problems were just corrected by spending a mere 460 bucks!! ( ouch.. ) but the mofo works, idles, accelerates, fetches, heels, sits up, brings me the <censored> slippers in the morning, everything.

    I think I win.

What model Q-jet did you get. If you got the one with the electric or heated choke (not divorced), could you do me a favor. Pop off the air cleaner and look between the secondary butterflies. There will be a small little hanger held in by one screw with a letter on it. I need to know that letter to finish my rochester. I used the edelbrock specs exactly....73 main jets, 50M rods, DR secondaries, APT out 2 turns. All I need now is that hanger spec

    Thanks /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

sorry, mine's a divorced choke setup. ( although its currently actually a zip tied open choke setup) doesn't edelbrock have the specs on that thing?
