Well I'm gonna turn on whiney selfish kid mode again for a moment...

I came home from a nice day in Colorado with a lady friend, and found a letter waiting for me on my bed... From Win Health...

It seems that as I should have expected, the bastards don't want to pay their part of my last few doctor visits, claiming "pre-existing condition." Yeah, alright, because OBVIOUSLY anything that will ever be wrong with my body is directly related to a ****ed up ankle... What was I thinking?

Of course I get the letter on Saturday, so I can't call and do anything about it until Monday... I hope they're not going to try pulling this every time I need to see a doc for any reason

Yeah, that's the name of the company... A local place that everyone seems to love but me for some reason

I'm definately calling them on Monday though, since they (I at this very moment) owe the doctor's office about $200 and I have another appointment coming soon :doah:

Try the nice approach first. Also ask your Dr's office for a little help sorting it out. They are great at translating those bills. If that doesn't work, bitch and blame Canada.

Yeah, but if you're not dying you get no healtcare.

If Canadian healtcare was so great, there would be no Canadians in my local podunk hospital.

That's probably why..most big insurance companies won't do things like that. The small company is trying to get the foot in the door to grow so their being frugal. Our Insurance at work is the same way, so I got my own with Humana.

$50 for the use of a hospital gown
    $110 for a Tylenol
Charging an uninsured patient over 3X what an insured patients insurance company gets billed.

If that's what we'd have to look forward to with privitization, I'm gonna start going to a veterinarian.

    a great example is this.

Brandon's wife had major back problems a while back and they almost didnt goto the hospital for fear of the bill. Eventually he did and she got the treatment she needed, but is going to pay for it bigtime.

In Canada, sure you might have been in the waiting room for an hour or 2, but you would have gotten the same care, and paid .... a buck forty for the coffee while you waited.

Cap, your doctor's office should "Accept Assignment"... ask them if they do. If so, they are responsible for getting your services paid for until such time as they have exhausted their efforts or 60 days has passed. At that time, call the insurance company, bitch them out for not paying for your services, and tell them you are calling a lawyer. Usually, that last statement is all you need to get paid.

***EDIT*** They are not responsible persay... but they are doing you a favor of filing your claim for you, collecting directly from the insurance company, and billing you for any copays or coinsurance payments due by you the patient. They should be able to handle the situation if they are a good office.

ummm... no. The amount of tax money you get raped for during the entire course of your life would add up to a fortune. Nothing "free" about that. Its like an American calling Social Security a "free retirement program"... yeah, ok... to bad if you invested the exact same amount of $ in the S&P for 30-35 years you'd have ten million bucks... instead of $700 a month.

socialism doesn't work... it never has, and it never will. It can limp along for a good amount of time, but it will eventually collapse under its own weight.

In any case, I've got about $50,000 worth of medical care in the last year... and it cost me about $1500... and that includes the insurance premiums I paid over that period. Personally, I don't think of that as a very bad deal. If nothing else, I am in charge of my coverage and if I was a healthy mo-fo I could waive it completely and save myself some coin.

if you missed earlier in the thread, we covered the extra tax.

we're cool with it, its kind of like insurance ... cept we dont have the BS of the company deciding not to pay.
