How hard is it to find a 203 that came off a TH400? How about the adapter? I have a 205 now and would like to install a doubler, but if the case and adapter are going to be hard to find I might just do some other stuff first before I attemp this mod.

I have a 400/203 setup that I am using with my doubler, this setup was only available in 78&79. The guy I got my 400/203 & 205 from, deals with a lot of 1 ton GM stuff and he said in all the years that he has been buying & selling stuff, he has only come across 5 of the 400/203 setups and mine was the 5th. Good luck.

I agree with YUNIT, as far as i know 78 & 79 was the only years and yes there kinda scarce. I just stumbled upon mine last week . A buddy of mine bought a parts truck last week and was actually going to junk this combo. I showed up just in time!

Hmm, looks like I am going to have to become very lucky soon, or go see if the dealer still sells this piece, or have someone make something for me. Not a good thing either way. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Can't you replace the input with the correct one for the TH400. It seems like it would be a pretty simple.

Swapping the shafts on the cases would be the easy part. finding the adapter would prove more difficult.

Never mind on the adapter. ORD's site says you can redrill the 203 case to match the adapter. Now if Mr. Decampo can give me a deal better than 350(including shipping) I can have a case and adapter. Then i must get the doubler kit.

Last 400/203 combo I bought was $300 with shifter and crossmember. Gotta keep scouring for the deals!!

i have a 78 K20 with 203 and th400 ive been trying to sell as parts turck minus engine for long time now, and no one will touch it...... apparently are very common and undesireable, even at 500 bucks for truck with this in it minus engine.

    good luck
