i plan to add a four inch suspension lift to my 89 Jimmy(on top of the 3 inch body lift) and throw either 36 or 38 inchers under it. I have a stock 350 with a 700r4 trans should i upgrade my gears and if so what should i upgrade to, also if you think i should ugrade other stuff dont hesitate to let me know

You didn't state what your gear ratio is now.
    It is probably 3.73.
For the 36's it will work, but will be a dog.
I say no way for 38s.
Those are big tires and the stock axles, esp. the rear, won't be up to the task long-term.
    Upgrade #1 - bolt-in steering brace.

With the 700 I wouldn't run with 3.73's or (numerically) lower gears. If you plan to run 36's, I'd go with 4.56's, and if you use 38's I'd install some 4.88's. These combos would give good on and off-road performance.

if you go with 38's go with 5:13's since you have the overdrive /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif if you are going to go with and stay with 36's go with 4:88's
