Any auto dismantler will take it as long as it is drained of oil and coolent. Scrap metal is worth money.

Last time I dropped of a boat anchor (400 pontiac with block hole in 1994) it was a penny a pound. Couple bucks is a couple bucks, pays for gas and may end up reincarnated into something useful. /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

cast iron is worth pretty decent amount, especially if you cleaned it

auto dismantlers are something that seems to only exist where rust doesnt existat all or hardly at all, like Cali, WA,

in this region you have salvage yards and scrap/shredder yards and thats it nothing else and nothing in between

i wouldnt take something so heavy into landfill etc where you have to pay for the weight when you can take it to a scrapyard and make a few bucks instead

    but good luck

2¢/lb. when JeremyK5 and I took a load in last weekend. They pay a couple cents more for "prepared steel." That is it it's cut into smaller sections so they don't have to cut it up before throwing it in the crusher. I don't know what iron is right now, but I'll find out soon enough /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif.

Prices here are $40/ton for engine blocks, $55/ton for #2 prepared (heavy sections under 4') and $60/ton for #1 prepared steel (C channel, I beam, tube, etc under 4').

You could always set it out in the front yard, and plant some flowers or shrubs in it. Be the first on your block to have an eight cylinder flowerpot. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif /forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif
