everyone i spoke to or asks about my marriage plans or marital status. i tell em june. when i'm getting married. everyone tells me not to. is it really that bad? i need real world advice here. i am still going on with it regardless, but am i in for a world of change? anyways we've been going out for 5 years and living together for 3 1/2 years. we've worked out each others quirks and it really doesn't matter. am i into a change?

When you are just dating, you still have your sack and you can kick the bitch to the curb for her stupidity anytime you wish for whatever reason; she didn't do your laundry, the dinner was cold, the house wasn't cleaned like it should.

But when you are married, then she OWNS your ass. She OWNS your sack. Whatever she says goes. You have to suck up to her to get anything. Want that new bling bling thingy from OffRoad Inc., forget about it. She's going to Wal-Mart to spend your check on some faggoty foo foo crap to vaginalize the living room and make you feel less like a man and more like an androgynous android.

Want to go to the movies? Fine, but y'all are going to see "Buffy's High School Romance" and not "Third World Massacre of Death" like you want to.

Want to go to the truck show this weekend? Fat f'n chance!!!!! You're going to "Womens' Sewing Challenge 2003."

Marriage sucks. If you want to know what real life marriage is all about, watch "Married With Children." It's all you need to know about marriage..........

I have been married for two years and it ain't that bad! Then again I have been away from my wife for the past four months. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif It helps being in the military, you kind of get a vacation from each other now and then. If she is truly your best friend and you want to marry her... I say go for it.

I am thinking the same thing. I think it is all about getting to REALLY know who you are marrying and look out for signs of problems. I think it is important to not get married too soon and too young. Watch out for trouble signs, pay attention to what sets her off, check out how she acts when on long trips together and during planning. Watch her spending habits. Talk about how you expect each other to do things after marriage- especially finances. It is really all about good communication. I recently got married and my wife and I were just talking about this subject and we both agree that really nothing has changed for the worst and has been all good. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Ive been with my gf 2 years now (well, on the 25th it'll be 2 yrs).. and Im thinkin that maybe some peeps just get married to early. I aint even setting a date to get married until we have lived together for atleast 6 months. I'll prolly be pushin 3 years by then. Most sane women wouldnt even think of waiting around longer than that, so maybe Im pushin it.. but still, i think its vital to REALLY know someone b4 u get all crazy and get married.

Now think about what he said... If going to war is considered a "VACATION" from his wife,,,, just how good can marriage be?

Damn, you fellas have some mean-ass wifes! /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif My wife supports me starting my performance parts business, doesn't mind the junk car taking up the garage, or my ugly 79 TA in the driveway. She only wants me to clean up what I mess up and never bitches about stuff that I don't deserve to be bitched at for. Granted, we've only been married for a little over a year, but we've been together for 7 years. It is really not that bad, expecially since she can cook good. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

It depends. If you are both willing to grow up together (not that you are a baby but your relationship is still young) it can be a blast.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    No you haven't, not yet.

Face it, your life as a single individual is now over. That's not necessarily a bad thing but part of being married is to share your lives together. Just like the vows say "for better and for worse".

    Will you fight? Yes.
Will you hate being in the same room with her sometimes? Yes.
Will she call you names that are so nasty you'll want to write them down to use yourself? Most likely.

Will you make up afterwards? BOY HOWDY! That's the fun part.

Relax, expect change and take it in stride.

    Think of it this way:

Wheeling is one of the coolest things in the world. Sometimes you get stuck in mud holes, sometimes you break axles and sometimes you blow up engines. Face it, sometimes wheeling really sucks. But we all still keep at it because the fun parts far outweigh the bad parts.

    Congratulations and good luck.
