i found a good complete axle today that looks like a 44 but it has 8 lugs. is that something that was offered, and if so, is it stronger than the 6 lug?

yes it was offered and was also offered in 10bolts, they use the same u-joints as the 6lug so their the same strength but the only benefit really with going to 8lug d44 is you get a bigger rotor and if you did the 14b swap in the rear you have the same size wheel so you can just carry 1 spare vs having a 6lug and a 8lug

great, thanks for the info. i think i'll grab it, since it's free, all i have to do is take it off the frame. and having bigger brakes is always nice.
