Well I just picked up the 14 blt that I bought. When I loaded it in it just looked different than the others I have seen. I went ahead and took it home because I thought it was just my mind playing tricks on me (who said that). Here are a few pics of the thing; can someone tell me if I got the right one? I thought these things had a very large lip on the bottom.

    14 Bolt pics

    Thanks
    Charles

Thats sure looks like one, and yes that is the large lip at the bottom. It may not look like much now , I thought the same when I brought mine home.. but with it installed the lip will seem more pronounced.

Looks to be a FF to me. 4.56 gears is a nice find. How much did you give for it?

Thanks for all the help guys. The cost of the axle was $150. They had at least a few there but this one had 4.56 on it and the spring perches were the same as mine (no cutting)

Thats the 14FF alright. That axle also came out of a 2wd truck, which will still work for your truck. You can tell its from a 2wd by the shock mounts. See how low they hang down? A 14FF from a 4wd truck has shorter shock mounts which sit up closer to the tube. Nothing to worry about as this axle is still a great piece to have and work with. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Just to add to what Wes said, I also have a 14 ff out of a 2WD 3/4 ton, and although those shock mounts do hang down a couple of inches lower than the 1/2 ton, the shocks that came with my 4" rough country lift were long enough. In fact, I ran them for a couple months like that.

One questoin for ya. What did you do about the E-brake cable. Can I use the cables on mine and just put them on the 14 blt or do I need to get new ones.

Full floaters have that big circular piece that sticks out of the brake drums with the bolts around it. You can see it in Ox's 1st pic.
