well, my knocking sound wasn't knocking at all... [IMG] I had the timing really off, and it was actually backfiring a bit. I went out there and played with the distributor a little while my wife kept it running, and man I was real happy!

I have to hook up the tranny linkage, and get a u-joint for the back and it is finished... (oh yea, and I need the gasket that goes between the headers & the y).

I'm sure I will still have a few questions, but I want to thank everybody who helped in the project; from my recollection I got a lot of help from capt., twizted, neil, pugs etc. I know there are lots of others that helped me with this, and I hope people don't feel bad if I forgot to mention them.

I tell ya what I got through all this ok, but I would've been stuck quite a few times if it hadn't been for everybody here who kept be going in the right direction! all in all I don't think things went too bad for my first engine rebuild.

I guess we'll find out exactly how good things went if this thing keeps running well for awhile!

man there is a little leak in the exhaust between the header etc. where those gaskets are missing, but all in all it really sounds like it is running pretty good! makes for one happy Jeffy!

now, breaking in the cam??? if I cam correct I run the thing between 2000-2500 RPM's for 30 minutes right??? I've got that part over with, but I gotta wait to get the other u-joint in order to actually go out & drive that thing... [IMG]

I tell ya what though I'm definately gonna be driving it tomorrow! man I can't wait to get this thing on the road now and feel how the thing responds. I'm pretty sure its gonna be head and tails above what it used to be like! (man it better be or I'm gonna be ticked... it already sounds a ton better though...

I am so glad to hear you got it going! Great job man! I had faith that you could do it. I remember the 1st engine I rebuilt. a 327 w/ mild cam and 2 barrell. I felt like I could almost cry when I heard that small block rumble the first time! I am proud of ya, and YOU'RE WELCOME for the help. Anytime I may help, just call on me and I'll do what I can.

Congrats!!! Now I can go take the picture of it off the altar, and quit sacrificing the neighborhood cats in JMT's name!!

**Note to ASPCA members, the cat remark was purely used for the purpose of humorous exaggeration. No actual cat sacrifice has taken place, only threats**

Special thanks to those lost from IAFF Locals 94 and 854 - You shall never be forgotten

man all I can say is everybody here has been a life saver... TRusty, everybody etc... man I tell ya what I've had quite a few people here contribute. I remember talking to a couple people on the phone when we figured out this had a 305 in it (BigRig & Jeff427 gave me their numbers on that one & we talked)

I don't know how I would have ever gotten all this figured out. It wasn't that any of it was terribly difficult, but dealing with the non-stock parts & trying to figure out what they all were etc. was definately a little over my head. all the contributors were incredible.

man you are definately right in the fact that it was an incredible feeling when I actually heard the thing start & got the timing square etc. the feeling will even be that much better when I back that thing out so I can take it for a drive!!! [IMG][IMG]
