    It\'s a disease...

Came home last night with our third full-size ... this one a '77 Chalet, honest-to-god rust-free from Nevada (Vegas). No rust, but lots of dust. I choke every time I get near the thing ;-)

The next thing to do is unf&&k the top -- the PO had the pop-up camper top sealed down, so it wouldn't fly off in the desert winds. They RIVETED it down after cutting out bits of the interior. What a cheesy sorrowful way to hose a perfectly good truck, grr.

Anyway, I'm pleased, as I got a ~75K miles essentially one-owner rust-free truck for cheap ;-) Just had to complain about the butchering done to the top. It's crazy what people do.

I've briefly updated my Chalet page with a pic & stuff, and I'll upload more as I have time.

Can someone tell me a little more about these Chalets? I've only heard so much about them and know they are camper Blazers, but I have never seen one in person. Only pictures of them.

Is it only the camper that makes these Blazers special?

Short answer: The web page .... Chalet web page

Long answer: If I buy another my wife *will* kill me on the spot ;-)

Yes, it's the camper that makes it weird -- camper, dual batteries, big alternator, and that funny fiberglass wart (the camper ;-) Imagine a Volkswagen Westfalia that looks like a Blazer -- and has 4WD ;-)

They are removable from the Blazer, but not easily. They are not day-to-day removable like the hardtops -- this is not a camper shell, it's a full camper with a fridge, heater, stove, etc, and weighs like 800 or 900 pounds!

Re: It\'s a disease... Chalets not coming off...

Easy -- have two trucks. Or three!

I use the Burb for carrying lots of stuff or people, or staying dry.

I use the '74 for driving in the sun or for carrying smaller loads. It leaks like a sieve so it stays home when it rains.

Hopefully ;-) I'll be using the Chalet for camping.
