The part where it started rattling and white smoke started coming out or the tail pipe while running like crap and suddenly died and won't crank over anymore..

Sorry about the luck . When you get the new engine , I want dibs on the late model heads you have on there . TJ scored all the running motors lately :D

As a matter of fact the reason was the carb got jammed in high RPM's and soon after it blew up. If I get a crate form GM they are gonna want a core from me. I think the block is cracked hence the white smoke.. Don't know the condition of the heads tho'

Like the linkage stuck or something ? Or dirt in the bowl ?

I had the linkage stick on a Holley once , trying to get the kickdown from a th350 fit it . Was doing 120 down Hampton going towards Mesa Dr . Just reached for the key , shut her off , and coasted to a stop .

Had dirt in the Q-jet the year I got the truck ( from charcoal canistor ) , and coming back from Tucson , wouldn't run anywhere below 65 mph . Drove home like that the whole way .

For a minute there I was very confused. I thought that you meant that you were finished with your build, and we all know that its impossible to be done. Or at least finished.;)

For the $$, and time, and quality.... you can't beat a crate motor.
