It's sweatshirt weather and pheasant season opens in 45 minutes. Grabbing my shells and I'm out the door. That is all. :D

There is still not enought in my field yet. I've seen a few but not enought roosters to go out for, mostly hens.

Nice birds. I love to bird hunt. Mostly ducks. Pheasant is one thing that I have always wanted to hunt, but have never had the chance.

bird and waterfoul are KEY for hunting.

any sissie can drop a deer while its standing still, but lets see you crack a goose in full flight :D

nothing more rewarding that catching a goose at speed, seeing it drop is enough to bring a tear to your eye.

If you can hit a teal, you can hit a pheasant, trust me. Only thing that takes a little getting used to is when a big fat rooster comes right out from under your feet, cackling the whole way. Sounds stupid, but they startle people quite a bit, especially when you nearly step on them.

It was really really good yesterday (as shown by our limit) I remember at least 3 seperate time where someone else and I would hit a bird and go sprinting for it (no dog) and another rooster would get up so I made sure the other guy had the first one and I would draw down on the second one.

We only missed one or two and we only lost two. Once again, it was a beautiful day. :D

Sort of a disappointing day. 7 guys, 7 birds + 1 hen. We scared the hen up, nobody shot, and then she flew full speed straight into a power pole and just smoked herself.

I'm going deer hunting this weekend, and I hope to fill the gap with pheasant hunting across the road, maybe it will scare all the dear to the other property ;)
