came home today to a nice big box sitting in the garage... return address... Sky Manufacturing...

brackets are pretty beefy, made of 3/16" and 1/4" lazer cut steel. the front crossmember is CNC bent. the only thing, mine doesnt have the "Sky's Offroad Design" logo cut into it like most others do. not 100% sure that that's standard with this kit, although Sky did tell me at one point that it was optional. i believe it was 15.00 extra if it wasnt on there, but i could be wrong. the shackles are 3/8" CNC bent pieces, 4.25" center to center. the kit appears to be pretty much bolt on, with slots in the front crossmember that bolt to the area where the stock tow hooks go for adjustability, and 4 bolt holes on the rear hanger. i plan on bolting mine together, loading the rolling chassis onto a trailer, and taking it to work and buzzing it together with one of the industrial welders.

checking the measurements the hangers are just a bit off of the 32.5" spring spacing,. the outside tabs are spaced about right, but the inner tabs are a little on the narrow side, nothing a couple washers wont fix, and should make the kit usable in Chevy Ford and Dodge axles.

    and the long awaited pics...

another thing to keep in mind, mine is the first customer unit short of the prototype, out there. anything i run into that could make the kit harder or easier to install will be relayed to Sky.

    BTW, pricing is $350 TYD.

So the only bolts that hold the front crossmember to the frame is the 4 bolts that go where the tow hooks were?

yes, but it is recomended that the brackets be welded in. or, you could easily add some braces to the side of the frame if you felt that was necessary. i'll probably end up going that route.

those shackle brackets are really trick pieces. DEFINETALLY the best setup I've ever seen a company make. Front brackets aren't stunning, but could be fixed up nice. debating whether I'd be better just getting their shackle mounts and making my own front mount.

just out of curiousity, what are you thoughts on making the crossmember better? i've got a few ideas...

a couple of triangular gussets between the top of the crossmember and the inside of the frame.

box the bottom of the crossmember.

and a couple of brackets that fit inside the front body mount to the top of the crossmember on the outside of the frame.

    got anything else?

just a gusset from the backside of the member down the framerail a little bit. keep it from folding backward if you hit something head on. Other than that you said all the things I'd think of.

maybe not even fully box the lower part of it, just add a couple pieces across the bottom of it to strengthen it up a bit.

Aftermarket leaf springs (for the front) are 2.5" wide with bushings that have a 1/2" shoulder on each side to make them 3.5". rear springs are 2.5" also but with bushings that use 1/4" shoulders, use the bushings for a rear spring eye in the front and problem solved!:D

er, uh, they're too wide, not too narrow. the spring is smaller than the perch.

the inside to inside spacing on the perch, add a couple washers, and let Sky know about it so it can be fixed in future kits, no big deal.

OOO, i was referring to divorced. sorry i must of replied to the wrong post:doah: I was just reffering to the fact that there are bushings out there that can be swapped around to make a 3" or 3.5" width from 2.5" wide springs so he could make the other mounts work
