I\'ve been tempted by the dark side!!!

Actually, I'm going to buy it. I have the oppurtunity to pick up a '76 CJ7 with Quadratrac, hardtop, and 304 AMC v8 for $800. Runs fine. It's owned by a guy I work with. He says it's now just taking up space. I figure it will be a good interim vehicle until my new car is delivered sometime this summer(June/July). It's all original all the way down to the hand operated choke. Plus's include a recently installed 4" lift and the aforementioned v8. I'm not putting any money into it. It will just be here in case my truck is down for any amount of time and I can't drive it to work. Please don't hate me guys for buying a Jeep. Oh God. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to use that four letter word. Please don't kick me off the site. The jeep is only around so I can improve my Jimmy.

Everyone needs at least 2 4x4s
But if you get the overwhelming urge to start collecting Barbi dolls you may have to get rid of the Jeep.

Don't worry 'bout them roots. It's all about my Jimmy. Diesel all the way!!! But you can't beat $800 for transportation while I'm getting my new 6" all spring lift and Banks turbo installed. I can see it now......towing the 84 Jimmy with the Jeep.

Funny you should mention condition. No rust. The only thing that needs work is the rear body mount.

Re: I\'ve been tempted by the dark side!!!

When you get it, ditch the Quadratrac. They are pieces of crap. My buddy had one that was always a PITA, and leaked. The fluid for those things is only available at the Jeep dealership, and is around $10 a quart. I like jeeps, but they are a huge PITA to work on. Everything is mixed an matched. AMC motor, GM tranny, Ford distributor, etc.

My Chevy isn't broken, its just out of gas. <a target="_blank" href=http://coloradok5.com/gallery/albuo73>My K5</a>

Well, the jeep is pretty old, so some previous owner has probably lost the key to the ladies room that came with it.

Good thing you are getting a mustang, you'll be able to get one after all.

Excerpt from the Mustang Owner's Guide:
    "How to urinate:
    1. Ensure toilet seat is in DOWN position
    2. Make sure no filty man has urinated on it..."

A Jeep is no problem to work on quite easy if you ask me and if you need parts you can get them off of several makes.
I had a lot of practice my dad owns 7 of them. At least he did last month but he had a couple more lined up. If you ever get a chance to wheel a stock CJ-2A or a CJ-3A go for it. It is with out a dout pure original wheeling

Re: I\'ve been tempted by the dark side!!!

The Jeep I have experience with was a 76 Wagoneer, and it was a POS. Not to mention a PITA to work on. Personally I like the Wagoneers, but after working on my buddies I don't think I will ever own one. A flatfender is a different story. I would buy one of those in a heartbeat. I tired once, but they guy wouldn't sell it even though it was just sitting in his back yard rotting away. I have always wanted to get a Willys Wagon, or a flatfender CJ. The problem is they would just end up with a Chevy drivetrain anyway. Oh, wait that really isn't a problem.

I just bought a ford too. Well kinda, its a howard v-drive flat bottom boat with a 390 FE in it. Its a 80 mph boat as is, and with a gear change it will do 100-110 mph :)
