Just to try it out
That's pretty damn funny!
Lu lu lu lu lahhhh
I am a flower's child
My name is Run Run Lah
Keep trying, RJ.. maybe one day you'll be as funny as matt groenings "life is hell" series.. ( y'know, the one with akbar & the one eared rabbits )
In the meantime, try to create something designed to elicit laughs from someone older than 6, ok?
i thought it was funny
i am older than 6
So many levels of smug snobbery, rudeness, and backhanded compliments
Hey, I take my comics seriously, and I expect to be entertained for my 25 bucks.
ned flanders ( from the simpsons ) makes me laugh. draw ned flanders and I'll withdraw my criticism.
Baby Jesus is currently crying because you've lost your sense of humor...................
I'm writing this outside of PM cause I'd like RJ to see it... It's half a note to him, half a note to you.
I think RJ has a problem with Christianity. I say that because of his obvious and subtle regular mocking of believers/beliefs. I've been observing this for a while. Rarely, if ever, do I see him pull something like this out of his head relating to any other faiths/beliefs/convictions of an individual, political, religious, or otherwise.
He regularly makes derogatory or plain silly comments about Jesus that can be overlooked as simply childish or antagonistic. No big deal, I'm pretty sure he's just looking to get a rise out of people with comments about Jesus making soup and so on.
From a totally nonbeliever's perspective, I guess the comic could be funny, kinda in the same category as "Solar powered flashlight", but more nonsensical. RJ the stoic (no pun intended) almost never makes a post with humor on the pun level for any subject, even implies disdain for those that do, yet takes and creates opportunities to mock Jesus; even with cheesy puns that he'd normally frown on, and where he knows it may be offensive to some individuals. That's why I think it's obviously antagonistic.
I'm not fighting Jesus' battles, obviously you're not the first to mock Him or Christianity and won't be the last. But, RJ, you get transparent at times which betrays the image you're going for, or seem to be going for. Not a good way to impress the people you're worried about impressing.
Personally, and I'm probably biased here, but I think it takes some, but very little balls to mock something that you know is important to people, but you can get out guilt of on technicality, while still getting a level of support from people it's not an issue to. I'm waiting to see the "innocently" humorous comic about people eating breakfast on the 70th floor of WTC Tower 1 with an airplane coming straight at them. Probably fewer people would be ready to laugh at that.
As far as:
Hello kettle...Is that the pot that started this thread?
If I went to a place full of people that know you, some your friends, others not, and I mocked serious personal traits of yours in a manner you didn't like at all, would you think I was trying to turn your friends against you, or even mocking them in front of your non-friends in a backhanded way?
The comic annoyed me, but not because of it's content as much as it's raw disrespect from a person who would feign respect for his friends and their beliefs.
I refrained from replying mainly b/c I know most here would disagree with me and it's not worth starting a pi$$ing match over something that won't be resolved. I think Ratch has said enough and said it well.
Well perhaps this can help Clicky
Oh I get it... Conspiracy... Create a high profile thread and slip that in?
It goes both ways. Some people don't want to see bible quotes in sigs.
We slipped to 6th , so I figure while everyones getting into a hissy , we can do something good
Jesus is cool with it though , he loves everyone anyway , and it didn't hurt HIS feelings .
Charlie: How bout a bagel before we start this mornings meetings???
Bob: Sure, sounds great.
Charlie: How do you take it, butter, cream cheese, maybe some penunt butter perhaps???
Charlie: OK OK , geez you'd think it was then of the world or something, relax...
You mean like this Ratch, maybe if Jebus wasn't out back having a smoke with RJ???? Sorry I got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning....
+1 - The comic came off as disrepectful and tactless.
I personally have a hard time mocking someone's personal beliefs for the sake of a laugh no matter how rediculous they seem to me. Why not make comics mocking the real evils of the world?
Maybe some of us find Christianity to be one of the evils of the world...
