I have a small debate with my friend. He says the Jimmy is just an earlier model of the Blazer. I haven't been able to confirm, nor deny this. Perhaps someone could clear it up for me?

Jimmy was just GMC's not-so-clever name for their version of the vehicle that Chevy called a Blazer. All the parts are interchangeable between the two, save for a few trim items and name badges.

I'm not sure if this was true for the K5 series, but the Chevy and GMC S-trucks were even built on the same assembly lines. The serial number determined if the truck got Chevrolet or GMC trim. I've seen a brand new Chevy S-10 pickup sitting on a dealers lot with a GMC tailgate. Saw another one that had a GMC logo on the horn button. Ooops! /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif

    Exact same production line.

I worked at a Chevy dealership for the last few months. We had a Chevy 1 ton come in that had GMC interior stuff. All the badges and trim were GMC./forums/images/icons/tongue.gif

tsgb: Blazers = Jimmys. Same thing.

BTW, to those that say the GMC name for the rig is "not so cool"... BAH! I like "Jimmy"....

"hey baby, wanna check out my Jimmy?"

can't make a line that cheesy with "Blazer". /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif Lets not forget that the ORD rig is a Jimmy... and besides, every time I hear "Blazer" I think of portlands loser basketball team. GO LAKERS! /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

I call my WIfes Blazer a Blazer. I call my Jimmy Dollar. Only time I call it a Blazer is at the parts store when dealing with some honda driving zit faced looser parts boy that is too stupid to figure it out on his own.
Sometimes I screw with looser parts boys and tell them it's a GMC Blazer and chuckle as they look for "Blazer under the GMC listings. THen I usualy really screw them up and tell them to click K10.
