The other thread about the new movie "Walk The Line" made me think of this.

I just listened to the Johnny Cash song "I Hung My Head" from the album "American IV- The Man Comes Around", I haven't listened to that song in at least a year, but damn, it's got to be my favorite song he ever did. Hell, it's probably one of my favorite songs EVER. :woot: If you haven't ever heard it, find a way to listen to it. It's so powerful .

So, I'm curious, what are yall's favorite Johnny Cash songs?

Folsom Prisom Blues. Just has a mesmerizing quality to the melody, sticks in my head for days. Long live that real rockabilly sound.

That is a great remake, great album too.

Nailing it down to one is tough.

    Long Black Veil

    Ghost Riders in the Sky

Cocaine Blues (last line always makes me laugh, even after a million times)

Ballad of Ira Hayes (just cause the real story is a tear jerker too)

Unchained is a great remake too.

    Drive on

I don't know, I could go on and on.

    R.I.P. Johnny...

I'm ashamed to admit though Johnny Cash was the first artist I heard on a country station that turned me onto country music,I've never really collected any of his music..I heard his songs on the radio a lot,so I never really bought many of his albums..I did buy "A Boy Named Sue",and a few others..I really need to get some of his music..He was the KING of Country Music!..

some of my other favorites of his were..

    "Get Rythym"
    "The Hustler"
    "Daddy Sang Bass"
    "Tennesee Flat Top Box"
    " Folsom Prison Blues"
    "The Ring Of Fire"
    " If I Were A Carpenter"
    "The Ballad Of Ira Hayes"
    "Hurt",and many others..
Just about any Johnny Cash song is a good one--there are a few duets with his wife June I like too,but I'm not sure of the title--one she calls him a "guitar pickin man"..my all time favorite of his has to be..

"One Peice At A Time" !!...who hasn't built a 4x4 and related to THAT song! :D

Amen brother that is the ultimate "Built not Bought" song.

I havent heard a Johnny Cash song that I did not like But Hurt is one of the most moving songs I have ever heard. The video will almost make a grown man cry. :(

My daughters favorite is The Ballad of Ira Hayes.

Ok, all you yunguns. Back in the 70s, JC put out a comedy album, kinda like Ray Stevens. Anybody know the title? My dad still has it, and one day it will be mine.

I have one of JC's greatest hits CD's, but he was by no means my favorite. That title belongs to Waylon  .

He never did a bad song. Hell, Cash could have made the theme song for Thomas the Train a teary scary ballad.
