Remember the junkyard jewels series from Hot Rod (I think). They took a junkyard 350 and make 400 hp with it. Does anyone know if that article is available online? I have the one where they took a Ford 351 Windsor and did the same thing, but I am curious about the earlier one they did with a 350.

I happen to have that article right in front of me. What do you want to know about it? I don't have a scanner or I would send it to you.

August 1999 issue. 375hp for $1,025 using a junkyard shortblock with vortec heads, comp cams Xtreme energy 268h cam (224/230, 470/480) and edelbrock performer intake and quadrajet carb. sorry i don't have a scanner, but i hope this helps.

also they made 394hp usins a super victor single plane intake and a speed demon 750 carb but that hurt torque down low.

Those HP #'s don't mean a thing, if it ain't got that swing.
Well ok if your turning 4-6k rpms.
What are they doing in the off-ideal to say 3k range ?

    Yep August 99.

How about 213.1 HP and 373.1 lb.ft. of torque at 3000 rpm for a whopping $1025. Lets see some Furd fans do that without nitrous.

I have one of those, and I think I might find a caddilac engine for my next build up project... although first things first, I gotta finish out the `burb, which already has a 454 ready to drop in it.
