Law Dawgs vs. Ghost Mountain Riders
    Sept. 26, 2001 9 p.m. and midnight ET/PT
    Sept. 30, 2001 7 p.m. ET/PT

The new season of Junkyard Wars gets off to a roaring start when two teams go head-to-head to see who can build and race the best monster truck. The Law Dawgs, K-9 cops from Modesto, Calif., are up against the Ghost Mountain Riders, grizzly bikers from the West Coast. Both teams think big and it's a race against the clock as they struggle to get their machines finished on time. The teams will then race their monster trucks through an obstacle course with jumps, ditches, lots of mud and a row of parked vehicles. This challenge is both a test of machine speed and driver skill, as team members must accurately navigate the course in the fastest time possible. It's a cliffhanger all the way.

Great News! Another new season of Junkyard Wars. I wasn't even getting tired of watching the reruns yet.. .. Now that's one show I would love to get on. Imagine digging around all those piles of wonderful junk, and getting to build a monster truck and race it. Now thats entertainment!

The show wasn't bad but I would have liked to have seen more detail.

10 hours to put it together, I don't know.

    Always fun to watch though

I think we should have a CK5 team for it!! The only problem is that this bunch would be too busy cabbaging for Blazer parts instead of actually competing[IMG]

Special thanks to those lost from IAFF Locals 94 and 854 - You shall never be forgotten

    Those were ARgo's I beleive.
I rented an eight wheeler this summer for a weekend.
They are awesome. Turn on a dime.
We went up steep cliffs with it and followed all the trucks.
Just don't get into deep mud- ride the ruts.

Lots of fun. Here's a pic

Oh, the only siapointing part about the show for me was that they didn't show as much detail as I would have liked to have seen but otherwise it was pretty good.

They pretty much had most of the stuff together for them. Just fit the pieces.

    The races were okay also.

I too was wondering about driveline on those "Monster trucks." They had 2wd transmissions that they were playing with! They must have been given 4wd drivelines after they chose an engine (looked like one 351C and a 500 Caddy to me, maybe someone else has a better guess).

Those were Max ATVs. They have Brigg's and Stratton engines in them, and while they won't go very fast, they're 6 wheel drive (unlike an Argo where one side's tires can spin). I would love to own one.

I think there might be some kind of "Fix-it" team of engineers and welders behind the scenes to do some of the stuff that NEEDS to be done. Putting the power of a big block to a mil-spec input shaft gets kinda complicated. Methinks there's something they're not showing us for the sake of keeping the show moving along.

Even if I had a lot of junk driveshafts laying around and a whole bunch of trannies, I don't know how I'd get the driveline in a truck like those. What kind of transfer case would you use? Suppose the military truck has the differential on the driver's side and you use a Chevy engine. You have to use a Chevy tranny, but what do you do, use a Ford transfer case?

Either way, it's fun to watch. I would just like to know what they did about driveline (when I bought my truck I didn't really look at the body or inside much, just underneith to make sure everything was there!!).

I also wonder what they do for driveshafts (were those trucks 4wd, it looked to me like they were, I think I saw a front driveshaft). I know that I could make a driveshaft, but I can't imagine trying to hook up a Ford NP 203 to a military axle.
