If you get an EMail titled "Christmas List 1999", DO NOT OPEN IT! I scanned it and it showed up as a worm.

This thing comes like a freaking ton of forms...! I opened my email this morning, had it 3 times... one was offering free porno (yuck!), the other was saying it was the recipe I requested from my friend Mary, and the third was saying it was a picture my friend took and this was her new email. Scanned them, guess what? Worms in em.... stinking hackers... [IMG]

Last week Sandi was flooded w/ mail w/ downloads. We just assumed they were viruses and contacted AOL. They were the ones that said something about getting your opinion or something like that.

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most!![IMG]

We should institute a mandatory hacker death penalty - either that or make them do something useful, like clean up my credit rating[IMG]

For the last 2 weeks we have been receiving emails that list the sender's name exactly as the subject of the email itself. We have not opened any of them because we assumed they were a virus of some sort.

hey, not all hackers suck. the ones that do suck are like the ones that are sending you those damn virus bombs cuz they are punks. i am a hacker, but only do it to test my knowledge of computers and to check the safety of my friends web site. i actually hack to get hackers back for what they have tried to do to me. i wont actually send e mail bombs, cuz they are kinda pointless if you ask me. so, the comment that hackers suck is too general. b/c i know of many hackers that actually are hired to check security, not break into computers and mess them up.

i have recieved some of these worms through e-mail, they have become a real bore, just delete anything in your inbox that looks out of the ordinary. dont even think twice about it, just delete it. if it was really important, then the persom will contact you another way. hope this info is helpful, and i hope that you dont decide to hate me cuz im a hacker. its alright man. i know a lot of punk hackers that do stupid s**t like that all the time. i ask them why waste your time, but they never respond. i guess thats why most bad hackers were all black, have no social lifes, and will probably never have a chance to drive a K5 in their life. =) dont worry, im not haten if your not haten. besides, we are just one big huge disfunctional family here @ CK5 am i right? 10. You hit the nail on the head. Dont think twice.
Also, update your virus detection weekly. And use the E-mail scan or auto-detect which ever one your software has. It works. Its not full proof, it may slow your system down a little but thats better than re-formatting your hard drive and re-installing everything. Adn thats if you can do it yourself. I know some of you out there are just now getting into computers. Good luck!

First off any _real_ hacker will never admit that they are. Whether they are doing good with their knowledge or not. The people who write these programs (viruses, worms) etc. are programmers. Being able to write code does not make you a _hacker_. Yes these programmers are doing lots of mischief with the creation of these bastardised programs and it should stop. Will it stop in reality? Nope, it will just get worse, so just abide by the #1 rule of thumb on file attachments and never open one unless you know the person who sent it and that they did knowingly send it to you. (ie. I just sent you that file attachment Bob, its hello.exe) That way you know its coming and that its safe. Yes keeping your virus scanners up to date is also one of the best things you can do as well. Update them weekly as new virus' are written daily.

Just outta curiousity, why do you consider yourself a hacker?

  12. Well, hold on there Wax. I've got a friend thats a programmer adn into all that stuff and people pay him to try and break into their systems to find security holes and what not. And he and many other like him are often considered hackers.
But that is a loose term. But it is a stereo-typical title. There is good and bad in every field of expertise.

Yes Mud, what do you think I do for a living? :)
Check my profile, I'm a sys admin. I spend countless hours patching Unix boxes, NT boxes and then testing them with the latest exploits to make sure they arent resembling swiss cheese.

  14. I do the same thing. Unix Sys admin, programming, web-design and all other pc repair and yada yada yada.
But I dont know enough about all that security crap to be trying to break into one. SO I cant even come close to calling myself a hacker.Im just a computer jack, master of none. I have learned by trial and error how to keep my companies stuff up and running and that is.
There are ton of hacker info pages on the net good and bad at least thats what they claim as you enter their sites.
